Ah yes - the old classic! But what about the popular German drink Radler? Something you may/may not have heard of is the German invention 'Radler' (meaning cyclist) which is a 50:50 mixture of a blonde beer such as 'Pils' with lemonade! It was originally conceived in the Bavarian region of Germany.
The story goes that Innkeeper Franz Kugler created a lemon soda (that he could NEVER sell) in a small town called Diesenhofen just outside Munich. During the roaring twenties there was a great cycling boom - Kugler (a man with initiative) created a bicycle trail from Munich through the woods to his drinking establishment!
On a beautiful day in June 1922, a reported ''13,000'' cyclists found their way to Kugler! Running out of beer FAST he decided to mix it 50:50 his lemon soda - and so 'Radler' was born!
