The A1.2 German course builds directly on what you learned in A1.1 - but now it’s all about daily routines, past tense, directions, housing, the city, and more real-life situations.


Eating & Inviting at Home

"Ich möchte was essen, Onkel Harry."

  • Talk about eating habits and food preferences

  • Practise real conversations at the dinner table

  • Learn how to express what you’d like (möchte)

  • Vocabulary: food & meals

  • Grammar: mögen, möchte, noun formation (Nomen + Nomen)


Useful Expression: Ich möchte gern Pizza essen. – Magst du Käse?


Public Transport & Directions

"Ich steige jetzt in die U-Bahn ein."

  • Learn how to use public transport

  • Give and understand basic directions

  • End a phone call politely

  • Vocabulary: transport & travel

  • Grammar: separable verbs (einsteigen, mitnehmen)


Useful Expression:– Ich fahre mit der U-Bahn.– Steigst du hier aus?


Talking About Your Day (Perfect Tense)

"Was hast du heute gemacht?"

  • Talk about your day and past experiences

  • Use the Perfekt tense with haben

  • Write emails, read schedules

  • Vocabulary: daily activities, time phrases

  • Grammar: Perfekt + haben, time prepositions: von … bis, ab


Useful Expression: – Ich habe Mittagessen gekocht und E-Mails geschrieben. – Was hast du gestern gemacht?


Events & Past Experiences

"Was ist denn hier passiert?"

  • Talk about past events

  • Learn Perfekt tense with sein

  • Understand months & seasons

  • Vocabulary: holidays, travel, weather

  • Grammar: Perfekt + sein, im with months


Useful Expression: Ich bin nach Berlin gefahren. – Es war toll!



Finding Places & Asking for Help

"Wir suchen das Hotel Maritim."

  • Give and understand directions

  • Ask for and offer help

  • Use local prepositions with dative

  • Vocabulary: places in a city

  • Grammar: an, in, bei + dative


Useful Expression: – Wo ist das Hotel? – Es ist beim Bahnhof.


Lesson 14: Housing & Describing Homes

"Wie findest du Ottos Haus?"

  • Describe a flat or house

  • Understand housing adverts

  • Write and respond to emails

  • Vocabulary: housing, furniture

  • Grammar: possessive articles (sein, ihr), genitive with names


Useful Expression: Seine Wohnung ist groß und hell. – Die Küche von Maria ist modern.


Life in the City

"In Giesing wohnt das Leben!"

  • Talk about what a neighbourhood offers

  • Ask about local facilities

  • Grammar: verbs with dative, personal pronouns in dative

  • Vocabulary: shops, institutions, places in town


Useful Expression: – Ich helfe dir gern. – In Giesing gibt es viele Cafés.



Making Appointments

"Wir haben hier ein Problem."

  • Offer help and apologise

  • Schedule and reschedule appointments

  • Grammar: temporal prepositions (vor, nach, in, für)

  • Vocabulary: time phrases, dates, appointments
